Amitis Motevalli: thinking about revolutions....revolution 31 years ago, revolution today, here and there, how to make art and revolution and easily pay rent www.amitismotevalli.com -
Erika E. Reynoso: How can I get my students to understand their inherent value as people? How can I get myself to understand my own? I don't quite know how to communicate this to them with any sense of security when I have not achieved this for myself...It's a great responsibility to keep moving forward in ones understanding, not allowing for fissures created by lack of experience or information, but the contrary is much too daunting. -
Flora Kao: Mapping, making, music, and memory - the passage of time - the poetics of space - the generous nature of beauty and people www.floratkao.blogspot.com -
Linda Kunik: What's on my mind is the next step for Plant It Forward-the starving artist project. At first artists came & worked in the gardens for 2 hours, once a week & went home with a bag full of vegetables. We celebrated the gardens, the vegetables harvested & the sense of community established with 2 backyard barbecues. The next step is to move into the community, start more gardens, educate. www.lkunik.com -
Marissa Mercado: I’m thinking about generosity. It is so difficult for me to ask for money to do what I do. Without money it is impossible to keep doing it. I know my art is work. I take satisfaction in it the same as any laborer at day's end. Even so, I can't ask for what it's worth without a damning degree of hesitance. My impulse says, "Take it, take it; I want you to have it!" www.marissamagdalena.com -
Marjan Vayghan: Born to Azerbaijani parents in Tehran, Iran in 1984, I emigrated to the United States in the Spring of 1995, settling with my family in Los Angeles, California. I continue to live alternately between Tehran and Los Angeles. My practice is informed by this context of movement and flexible citizenship across both geographical and cultural spaces, and the multiple realities these spaces engender. www.MarjanVayghan.com & www.BuildingBridges.ME -
Michiko Yao: I am a multimedia artist investigating the psychology behind the unique social behaviors and fantasies of contemporary Japanese women, and the relationship of two imperialisms, Western and Japanese. The goal of my art practice is to expose Japanese social stereotypes in both Eastern and Western cultures and to confront the boundaries of socio-culturally constructed ideas of gender, race, and sexuality. www.MichikoYao.com -
Raksha Parekh: I AM HOMESICK!! It occurred to me that I have lived in the USA more than any other country in the world...and in another couple of years the North America continent will be where I would have lived at least half my life! My life in Zambia and South Africa suddenly feels so far away and I'm afraid I am loosing touch and beginning to forget lots of little details. I need to go back and visit to reconnect. SOON!! -
Yong Soon Min: I can't recall who said this but it bears repeating: are you present in the present to present the present? How to give the gift of love not only to others but also to oneself. The question of loving and respecting oneself at the same time that one is fully mindful of others. How to keep the faith and still embrace complexity, contradictions and paradoxes. I desire clarity and complexity. -
Zeal Harris: A year of moving forward with making new works. Next year, I hope to open up my studio, inviting others to come and view 3 years of post MFA graduation works. www.zealsart.com
